Dorothy Marie Fuqua

Age 87 after a brief illness, passed peacefully into the welcoming arms of Jesus. Died August 31, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving children and special friend, Arlene Phillips. Preceded in death by husband of 60 years, Edward B. Fuqua, Jr.; parents, Durward and Bessie Duncan; brother, Durward Duncan, Jr.; and granddaughter, Amy Wilkerson. Survived by brother, Harold (Dorothy); sister, Gloria Troutt; daughter, Donna Fuqua Meurer of Hendersonville; sons, Durward (Deanna) Fuqua of Hendersonville and Edward (Sandra) D. Fuqua of Nashville; sisters-in-law, Nancy Carter of Montross, VA, Betty Fuqua of Nashville, and Edna Ruth Kirby of White House; grandchildren, Mia (Scott) Billingsley of White House, Holle (Thomas) Wiktorek of Colorado Springs, CO, Julie (Stacy) Hull of Hendersonville, Nick (Rose) Meurer of Hendersonville, Edward B. Fuqua, III of Nashville, Rachael (Tim) Mann of Jonesborough, TN, Patty Peyton of White Bluff, Brad (Shelley) Wilkerson of White House, Joe (Karen) Kozma of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Jason (Laurie) Kozma of Santa Monica, CA; great-grandchildren, Joli Overstreet of Gallatin, Hope Meurer of Hendersonville, Jayce Fuqua of Springfield, Chayse and Austin Hull of Hendersonville, Hayden Wiktorek of Colorado Springs, CO, Riley and Ethan Mann of Jonesborough, TN, Bailey and Cole Wilkerson of White House, Regina Mayo of Hendersonville; great great-grandchildren, Brayden and Bennett Overstreet of Gallatin. The greatest joy of Mrs. Fuqua's life was the love of her children. She attended Inglewood United Methodist Church, was Chairman of the Memorial Fund and was past President of the A.E. Wright Sunday School Class. She was also a lifetime Member of Inglewood American Legion Post 82 Auxillary. Mrs. Fuqua was a Litton Lions Bandbooster and a member of Inglewood Civitans. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-8pm. Her remains rest at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11am by Reverend Cherie Parker. Interment to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Nick Meurer, Edward Fuqua, III, Scott Billingsley, Stacy Hull, Tim Mann, and nephew, Kerry Fuqua. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandson, Thomas Wiktorek and members of the A.E Wright Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, Inglewood United Methodist Church, 3511 Gallatin Rd. Nashville, TN 37216. Mrs. Fuqua was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and, above all, a lady.
