William Kelley Wright, Jr.

Born on Earth June 19, 1941. Born in Heaven June 19, 2018 (Kelley would want you to do your own math). Kelley was one of the good guys: an Old Hickory boy who grew into a true gentle man. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kelley and Clara Wright, and his sister, Joanne (Bob) Brock. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Wright; two sons and their families: William Kelley (Trey) Wright, III, wife Michele and their daughter, Megan, of Hendersonville, Hunter Harris Wright, wife Jessica and their children, Hanna Jean and John Harris of Stockholm, Sweden; nieces, Amy Brock (Jim) Peterson, Jenny Brock (Flint) O'Brien; nephews, Kelley Brock and Ben (Beth) Brock; favorite cousin, Linda Duke (Paul) DeJongh. Kelley was a graduate of DuPont High School who loved living in Old Hickory and never considered moving away. He was both proud of and entrenched in the community, bragging about being a patient at Wilson Family Dentistry and a client of Corley State Farm Insurance for over 60 years. He kept in touch with classmates and alumni throughout his life. Kelley was able to celebrate the Old Hickory Centennial the first of June and was talking about it until the day he died. After graduation and several fall quarters at Tennessee Tech, Kelley was employed for a short time at National Life and Accident Insurance Company while he waited to “hire on” at the DuPont Plant where he worked for nearly 35 years. After retiring from DuPont, he worked at Reemay/Typar for 4 years and then partnered with Ronny Pearce to open a locksmith business. Kelley and Ronny secured license #1 and 2 in the state of Tennessee. Kelley was a compassionate moral compass for his sons, and his wife’s most ardent supporter and encourager. They met when Sheryl was a teenager and loved each other deeply for all of their years together. He was a friendly and helpful neighbor and a sincerely kind person but with a wicked sense of humor. Kelley loved to laugh but never at the expense of others. His was a life well lived. Visitation at Phillips-Robinson Hadley Chapel Tuesday from 5-8pm. Funeral Mass at St. Stephen Catholic Community, 14544 Lebanon Rd. Old Hickory, TN, Wednesday at 10am with visitation 1 hour prior.
