Nancy Dickerson

December 11, 1931 - November 27, 2012

Nancy Neil Bridges Dickerson, age 80, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 after a long-time illness. She was born on December 11, 1931 to the late Elmo Raymond and Mildred Neil Riggs Bridges of Nashville, TN. Nancy was a member of the 1949 graduating class of Hume Fogg High School. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Robert Dickerson. Nancy was a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church, where she taught in the children, youth, and adult Sunday School and Training Union departments. Most recently she was a teacher in the JOY class, a group of senior adult women she loved dearly. Nancy also served her church and her Lord through committee and missions work and was especially active in the Nashville Baptist Association's annual Toy Store. Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert Dickerson, her daughter Debbie Dickerson Harned, brothers Sonny and Wayne Bridges, she is survived by her children David (Debbie) Dickerson of Rockvale, TN; Bobby (Jamie) Dickerson of Nashville; Julie (Shawn) Hart of Hermitage; and Dan (Michelle) Dickerson of Clarksville; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers Sterling (Sandra) Bridges of Goodlettsville; Larry (Freeda) Bridges of Savannah; Don (Bobbie) Bridges of Athens, GA; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Grace Baptist Church, 1510 Old Hickory Blvd., Nashville, TN 37207 at 10 a.m. with visitation an hour prior to the service. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, Nashville, TN, with Dr. Fred E. A. Johnson and Rev. Ken Coleman officiating. The JOY Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
