Loretta Mae Evans Sanford

Loretta Mae Evans Sanford, born September 6th, 1933 to Oscar Harold Evans and Lidy Bessie Bales Evans. She was born into an Appalachian farm family and knew the value of hard work. She loved the game of basketball and led her team throughout her high school years. Upon graduation in 1952, she followed her two oldest sisters to Washington DC, ultimately winding up in Nashville, where she met and married Elvin Stanley "Stan" Sanford on March 3rd, 1954. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren Joshua Killman, Jerome Malone, Sr. and Tim Ragan. She is survived by her children Elaine Ragan, Star Sanford, Crystal Gee (John), Doug Sanford (Joy) and Lisa Jennette (Stephen); grandchildren David Ragan (Lyndsey), Amanda Fore (Dean), Jermaine Malone, Jasmine Evangelista, Michael Sanford (Brandi), Shelby Imel (Chance), Elijah Jennette, Elizabeth Jennette; great grandchildren Cole Ragan, Leah Ragan, Reese Williams, Paiton Butler, Madeline Lewis, Winston Lewis, Noah Collier, Lucas Fore, Zachary Patterson, Jerome Malone Jr., Jaydan Malone, Jeremiah Malone, Layla Mae Corley, Luciano Evangelista, Ryleigh Sanford, Makenna Sanford, Brenleigh Imel, Madilynn Sanford, Tyson Imel, and Tatum Imel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 2, 2019 at Edgefield Baptist Church, 700 Russell Street, Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 1pm with service following at 2 pm. Pastor Stephenie Chumley will be officiating. Arrangements by Phillips Robinson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HomeStreetHome Ministries or the Nashville Rescue Mission, Women's Shelter.
