Karen Lee Duncan
December 4, 1971 - October 11, 2020
Karen Lee Harris Duncan, aged 48, of Bellevue, TN was a beloved mother and wife that passed away on October 11, 2020 after a 12+ year battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer. She will be forever remembered for her enduring love for her children who she loved “to the moon & back”: Blake, Ashlee and Daniel. Growing up in Lafayette, LA, Karen embraced the Cajun zest for life and amazing food. She was a spirited, fearless person who loved a good adventure and a relaxing vacation to white sandy beaches every year. Karen called Nashville home for ~20 years with a small stint in California when her husband, Jody, was deployed with the Marine Corps. Karen worked at HealthStream and then started her own business, Survivor Photography, that specialized in senior and sports photos. She was also an avid sports fan and could be found in the stands at Nashville Christian cheering (and taking pictures) of her children. Karen was an active member of the Cross Point Community Church – taking care of babies in the nursery and part of a small women’s group. She was a beautiful person inside and out and opened her heart and home to so many people over the years. Karen loved unconditionally and always had a beautiful smile on her face and an infectious laugh. Karen was preceded in death by her father (Jim Harris), grandparents (Lester and Dorleen Smith), stepbrothers (Damon and Max Cronin), aunts (Birgit, Hopie, Peggy, Suzette), uncles (Fod, Rusty, Galen, Leonard, Tom), and her other breast cancer warriors. She was survived by her husband (Joseph “Jody” Duncan III), children (Blake Taylor Duncan, Ashlee Megan Duncan, Daniel Nelson Duncan), mother-in-law (Deborah Duncan Harder), father-in-law (Joseph “Joe” Duncan, Jr.), grandmother-in-law (Angelia “Yia-Yia” Duncan), mother (Cynthia Smith Cronin), sister (Diane Harris Primeaux), brothers (John and Anthony Harris), aunts (Nat, Rossie), uncles (Ted, Brian) and the many women still fighting breast cancer every day. A small service will be held on Wed, October 21st at 12:30 pm at the Rotunda of the Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery in Nashville for immediate family only. We are offering live streaming to those that cannot attend in person. We ask that everyone in attendance please wear masks and maintain social distancing. To send flowers to the Duncan family, please visit our Sympathy Store or in lieu of flowers please donate a memorial gift to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation https://www.bcrf.org/
