Joe Gilbert Gobelet Jr.

December 8, 1941 - November 25, 2020

Joe Gilbert Gobelet, Jr.,78, died at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee on November 25, 2020 from complications of a fall. He was born December 8, 1941 in Jackson, Tennessee and spent his childhood years in the community of Malesus in South Jackson. Joe enjoyed many summers on the farm of his paternal grandparents in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was very active in The Boy Scouts of America, attaining Eagle Scout status. In 1959, Joe was a member of the third graduating class of South Side High School, Jackson. He was employed at Consolidated Aluminum Corporation in Jackson for many years, and later worked at Norandal USA in Scottsboro, Alabama. Preceding Joe in death were parents, Joe Gilbert Gobelet, Sr. and Margaret Louise Swink Gobelet; wife, Linda Wynn Gobelet; and son, James Gobelet. Surviving Joe are his daughter, Sheila Gobelet Murphy; granddaughter, Ashley Murphy Steele; sister, Betty Ann Gobelet Webb; and brother, James “Jim” Howard Gobelet. There will be a Masonic Service at the Madison Masonic Lodge #762, the date to be announced later. His wishes were to be buried beside his loving wife, Linda. A private graveside service will be held at Old Shady Grove Cemetery in Dutton, Alabama.
