September 1, 1947 - October 5, 2018
Darrell Lee Meyer Age 71, passed away peacefully in his Hendersonville home on October 5, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. Visitation at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home Wednesday from 3-8 pm and Thursday from Noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Ben Bounds officiating. Phillips-Robison Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Road. (615) 262-3312. Darrell was born September 1, 1947 in Toledo, Oregon to Robert and Jean Meyer. He was a Navy Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. Once honorably discharged, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business and master’s degree in psychology. He successfully used his education and skills to convince hundreds of customers that they needed that brand new car - in his words he’s there to “help you to achieve your automotive needs!” He had four boys - Erik, Shane (Elaine), Breze (Misty) Meyer and Graham Krisle that he loved dearly. After having lived in many different parts of the country, he moved to Nashville in 2001 where he met the love of his life, Teresa Lee. He and Teresa married, and he inherited his first and only daughter Rachel Biggerstaff (Bubba Hutchison), whom he absolutely adored. An avid San Francisco 49ers fan, Darrell had a vibrant, fun-loving spirit with a HUGE personality - and an infectious smile that would completely light up any room. He never met a stranger and had an uncanny way of making everyone, including his multitude of friends, feel like part of the family. He believed in living life to the fullest and always saw the positive side of every situation, including his illness and his latest battle with cancer. Darrell loved to travel but, more than anything, he loved to spoil his beautiful bride. He had the type of love for Teresa that women dream of having. The type of love that you could see in his eyes when he looked at her. And he made sure that she knew it. He fancied her with anything and everything she wanted and then some, including enjoying some of the most beautiful beaches and resorts this world has to offer. He was so proud of his children and loved his grandchildren - Augusté, Jude (great grandson), Razak (who left us way too early), Aurora, Ozzie, Zelda, Skylar, Maddox, Brooke, Blaire, Sarah Beth, Bailey and Hunter. His fur babies - Baxter and Janie, were treated more like their kids than pets. In fact, they ruled the roost - you’d often hear him say “they live here, we just pay the mortgage.” We hurt so badly now because we loved him so deeply. Time will help our grief subside but our love for him will never go away. And while this is such a difficult time, we must remind ourselves that Darrell wouldn’t want us to mourn his passing, he’d want us to celebrate and remember all of the laughs and good times. He’ll be missed but the memories we have of him will forever be in our hearts and will keep us smiling almost as big as he did. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.LiveLoveNashville.org.
