Age 55, of Hendersonville, TN, parted this life on Friday, November 5, 2010. Born November 15, 1954 in Nashville, TN. Preceded in death by his father, Albert Melvin Primm Jr. Survived by his wife, Debbie Hewgley Primm; mother, Lida Eskew Primm; daughter, Leah Primm Moss; Son-in-law, David Moss; grandchildren, Aidan Cecil Moss, Caleb Matthew Moss, and Luke Ashton Primm Moss; brother, Terry Primm (Linda); niece, Amber Primm Brown (Billy); nephews, Terry Primm, Jr., Chris Hewgley and John Hewgley; brother-in-law, Mike Hewgley (Yolanda); father-in-law, John L. Hewgley; BTO brothers, Benny Kirksey and Terry Smith. Mel graduated from Litton High School/Stratford High School in 1972 and from Tennessee Tech University in 1976. He worked for Genesco, Inc. for over 20 years. He taught Sunday school and worked with the youth for over 15 years at Inglewood Baptist, Alta Loma Baptist and Long Hollow Baptist churches. He also coached for the church softball and basketball teams. He was the Head Coach of the Tennessee Thunder girls AAU basketball team and led them to the National Tournament. He loved sports and excelled in baseball, basketball, softball, and golf. Along with sports, Mel enjoyed the outdoors; he liked hunting deer and turkey, and fly fishing. He cherished his family and loved being able to take care of his wife and anyone that needed his help. One of the happiest days of his life was the day his daughter, Leah Marie was born. But most of all he adored his grandsons and spending time with them brightened and blessed the final years of his life. His family will receive friends at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home on Monday 5-8pm and Tuesday 11-12pm with a memorial service immediately following at 12pm. Brother Jim Chatham and Reverend Steve Nelson officiating. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, immediately following the service. Mel will be loved and the memories of him will be cherished by his family and friends forever. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Debbie Primm.
