Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Grall "Honey" Brooks
January 19, 1925 - April 6, 2017
Born in Louisville, KY
Resided in Nashville, TN
Ann Brooks grew up in Louisville, KY. The older daughter of Albert and Katherine Cain Grall, Ann attended Loretto High School, and studied opera in Louisville and New York. She married pianist Stuart Brooks, with whom she often performed at churches and events, until his death in 1982. She moved to Nashville to be near the first of her grandchildren, adopting "Honey" as her grand-name. Independent, funny and an insatiable traveller, Honey remained central to family events until very recently.
She is survived by three sons: Randy Brooks (Marti) of Dallas, TX; Ronnie Brooks (Stephanie) of Nashville, TN; and David Brooks (Kathy) of Louisville, KY; sister Carol Grall Carpenter (George) of Greensboro NC, in addition to grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you remember Honey, frequently, with a lightly oaked Chardonnay or frozen margarita.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 30th, at the Scarritt Bennett Center, Wightman Chapel, 1008 19th Ave. S, Nashville, TN 37212.
Arrangements by Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, Nashville, (615)262-3312. Family owned and operated since 1929.
